It was the Saturday before Christmas and throughout the northeast, Twiddle fans came together from miles around to gather at the beautiful West Mountain Inn for a one-night-only treat with the band’s lead singer/guitarist Mihali. With the temperatures outside dropping well below 20 degrees, the sold-out crowd and glorious tunes kept everyone inside the large venue as warm as we needed to be.
Grateful Mountain Productions threw this amazing Solstice event — resplendent with a ton of delicious food (both medicated and unmedicated), drinks, and all the cannabis you could smoke in a state where it’s fully legal. In other words, the heaters kept the crowd warm and the bud-tenders kept everyone toasty.
In addition to the delicious food, cannabis, and friends, Grateful Mountain Productions also featured several prominent local artists, crafters, and vendors so everyone in attendance could grab those last-minute gifts.
Local favorite Sam Luke opened up the show with his special brand of crooning and hilarity. His tasteful and talented guitar riffs backed up his cover songs and hilarious originals perfectly to a delighted and giggling crowd.
Then, it was time for Mihali to take the stage. And, as always, it was hard to believe there was only one person up there.
While we all love watching Mihali perform in front of the entire band when he plays with Twiddle, watching him perform the same music by himself is incredibly special. With the use of his looping pedals and the recent addition of both a real bass guitar as well as a drum machine, if you closed your eyes, it would be impossible to believe there’s only one person on stage.
Mihali played Twiddle songs including Subconscious Prelude and Five as well as a few covers. He also played several of his recent solo tracks including Stubborn Smile. Throughout the night, he played two sets for us featuring his special brand of jam, reggae, and rock. He kept the crowd engaged, dancing, and happy throughout.
If you haven’t heard Twiddle or Mihali, you should correct that immediately. Mihali’s uplifting and inspiring lyrics will warm you on the coldest of days, and each band member is an absolute genius on their selected instruments making their jams some of the best you’re going to hear.
